LUXURY YACHT NAVIGATION IN THE NORWEGIAN FJORDS, 8 DAYS/7 NIGHTS

Embarking the yacht from 09:00AM and leaving Bergen at 10:00AM. You will sail north trough the western archipelago and passing places like Hardbakke and end up in the harbour of Vaerlandet. Adventure opportunities for the day: fishing, walking, climbing, visiting the lighthouse at Utvaer, scuba diving on old wreck (PADI license required), snorkelling and swimming. Vaerlandet is famous for it’s many islands and a possible eagle safari.

After spending the night at Vaerlandet you will sail south towards the Sognefjord. The fjord is the longest and deepest fjords and at its deepest more than 4,265 feet . You will also sail into the wild and unspoiled Finnafjord - the smallest of the fjord branches and perhaps also the most beautiful. In the afternoon you arrive in Balestrand, famous for the Kvikne’s hotel, St. Olaf's Church, lots of old buildings, paintings and culture. Adventure opportunities for the day: fishing, walking in the hillside of Finnabotn, strenuous mountain walks, scenic bike rides, snorkelling and swimming. In Balestrand you will have the opportunity to go ashore to explore this quaint little town, tasting the local products from Ciderhuset or from the wine cellar of Kvikne’s or just drop anchor at the bay and relax.

During breakfast you sail to charming Fjaerland. The narrow Fjaerlandsfjord with its steep and forested mountainsides leads you to the edges of the majestic Jostedal Glacier. Along the fjord, there are many hamlets and farms. Fjaerland’s old barns and boathouses have been renovated to display several thousand second-hand books for sale in The Norwegian Book Town. Visit the Bøyabreen glacier, which is part of the mighty Jostedalsbreen glacier, as well as the award-winning Glacier Museum. In the afternoon you will continue into the Sognefjord and dock in a charming little village called Solvorn. Adventure opportunities for the day: a guided roundtrip in Fjaerland including the museum, helicopter sightseeing flying over the glacier and the fjords, the old book town and a nice relaxed cruise from Fjaerland to Solvorn.

You will find Luster and Solvorn where Europe's longest fjord meets Jotunheimen and the Jostedalsbreen Glacier. Solvorn is a perfect starting point for “things to do”. Just across the fjord of Solvorn you will find the Urnes stavechurch dating back to the 12th century and on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Feigum waterfall is located on the same side and only 45 minutes on a bicycle. Depending on activities you will sail in direction of Skjolden, which is the final end of the Sognefjord, and stay the night there. Adventure opportunities for the day: private guided tour into the blue ice, kayaking, bicycling and hiking to the Feigum waterfall.

In the morning you will sail to Laerdal. Laerdal is one of four destinations in Norway that have achieved ‘Sustainable Destination’ status, which reflects local engagement and a long-term perspective. In the afternoon you will sail to Aurland & Flam, known for their viewpoints, the local brewery and the famous train ride on Flamsbana. Adventure opportunities for the day: walking the old village of Laerdal with its 161 listed wooden buildings, visiting the viewpoint Stegastein, taking the famous train to Myrdal and perhaps combine this with cycling the Rallar road back to Flam.

This is the day for exploring The Naeroyfjord, one the most beautiful and wildest arm of the Sognefjord is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Fjord cruises in unique setting, with sheer, snow-topped mountains, waterfalls and idyllic farms clinging to the mountainsides. The Nærøyfjord is 17 km long and the narrowest point is only 250 m wide. The passage through Nærøyfjord is one of the most dramatic fjord trips in Europe.  During the cruise we will visit the small village of Undredal, Styvi and Gudvangen. In the afternoon we will sail west in direction of the village Vik i Sogn. Adventure opportunities for the day: exploring the small village of Undredal including the smallest church in Norway, relaxing on the Naeroyfjord, the white caves in Gudvangen or visit the Viking Camp.

Before leaving Vik we recommend an early morning walk around in Vik. Today you start on your way back to Bergen and during the cruise you will visit places like Arnafjord, Skjerjehamn and the Fedje island. You will arrive Bergen late afternoon/evening. Adventure opportunities for the day: hiking and fishing
