Day 1 Rovaniemi-Apukka

Arrival transfer from the airport to Apukka Resort located outside Rovaniemi in Finland. You will have free time in order to rest after your trip and tomorrow you will start your Lapland adventure. Accommodation.

Day 2

Santa Claus Safari, duration 6 hours

An arctic day of snowmobiling and meeting Santa

Buffet breakfast. Our most popular safari combines nature, culture and the spirit of Christmas. The day starts with a snowmobile safari. In the afternoon the trip continues by car to Santa Claus Village with time to do shopping in Santa Claus Village. You will also have an opportunity to send postcards from Santa Claus main post office. During the day you get to meet Santa Claus himself and enjoy a delicious lunch in a cozy restaurant. And you will get a Diploma for crossing the Arctic Circle!

Day 3

Daily buffet breakfast at our atmospheric Lappish restaurant Aitta.

 

Your activities will be distributed nicely along the week and you can of course book more from our reception. For example, you can always change the order of the activities. 

Apukka Husky Adventure, duration 2 hours

Meet & mush with our howling, furry friends – the huskies of Apukka - on this daytime adventure, including an hour-long safari! Huskies are one of the most loved animals of the north, and you will understand why when you meet the pack at Apukka. You can pet them, pose on photos with them and listen to stories about the lives of the huskies. They absolutely love pulling loads and running on the trail across the forests. The highlight of the day is the 5–10 km long safari, where you get to be the musher yourself, in other words control the pack of huskies towing the sled.

Days 4-5 Apukka

Buffet breakfast. During these days you can explore following activities.

Snowmobile Safari thru Wilderness, duration 2.5hrs

Ready to drive to the winter fairytale? The snowmobiles can take you to some phenomenal places - making it possible for you to witness the nature’s beauty on its best. Experience the arctic nature on a completely different way as you hop on a snowmobile and drive off to the forest. Enjoy the beautiful sceneries along the way as you’ll drive through pine tree forests and frozen marshlands until you stop for a moment to enjoy a hot drink in a complete silence. Have you ever been in a place this quiet before?

 

Sauna Carriage, duration 1.5hrs

Just as you thought the love the Finns have for saunas couldn't get any more mesmerizing, this little sauna on wheels appears to brighten your day! A traditional Finnish sauna waiting for you on your doorstep? As you book this sauna, you're soon about to witness how a peculiar, cute little sauna slides it's way to the front of your doorstep. As you'll hear a knock on your door you'll know the sauna is ready for you - grab the bouquet of birch branches, a traditional "saunavihta", and step into the gentle warmth of this unique wood-heated sauna.

After breakfast you can enjoy following escapades:

Aurora Hunt on the Snow Train, duration 3hrs

Take a ride through the winter wonderland in a warm carriage of our famous Snowtrain! We head out in the wilderness, far from artificial lights, looking for the Northern Lights. We cross the beautiful snowy landscape to reach a traditional, Lappish “kota”; a hut deep in the wilderness. We gather around the blazing bonfire, to enjoy light snacks and hot drinks. Our aurora expert will help you with camera settings to best capture the Northern Lights. This excursion is completely focused on the Northern Lights, but you also get to experience the beauty of the pure, snowy forest, darkness, quietness. As the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, nobody can give a 100% guarantee to see them, but this trip presents an excellent chance!

Snowshoe Walk to the Arctic Nature, duration 2hrs
Do you want to feel, see and breath the unspoiled nature and its fresh air? This trip is for you! Snowshoes allow you to enter the stunning silence and beauty of the snow-covered surroundings. Your guide will tell you stories and facts about flora and fauna of the Arctic nature. You will also hear about the old way of living and learn about the traditional way of using ingredients found from the nature. The slow pace allows you to notice little details and take great photos. During the trip your guide will serve on hot drink.

Day 8 Apukka - Departure

Buffet Breakfast. Today is a last day of your Lapland experience and you will have your departure transfer to Rovaniemi Airport which lies right on the Arctic Circle.
